As Argentina approaches a milestone that could
redefine its sports history, our dedicated Executive Summary unveils
conflicting trends and uncertainties for 2026. Amid changing consumer
behaviour and sales decline (monthly revenue dropped by 23.6% Y/Y),
the local IT distribution aims to change the game this semester.
A closer look reveals a clear downward trend. The
Summary indicates that a widespread slowdown has impacted various
hardware segments that typically form the IT backbone. For instance,
Mobile Computing (the most significant segment in terms of value)
experienced a 33.0% drop Y/Y, while Network Systems fared even worse,
suffering a 50.0% decline in May.
By category, notebooks and routers have been hit
the hardest, with Y/Y declines of 31.9% and 67.2%, respectively. This
indicates that companies are choosing to delay infrastructure
upgrades, prioritising maintenance and other strategic investments instead.
However, it is not all bad news, as a few
categories have demonstrated resilience. Desktop computing grew by
28.4% in May, maintaining a positive trajectory of 26.1% YTD. Disk
storage also expanded, increasing by 28.2%, a segment strongly driven
by SSD unit sales.
Performance among vendors was equally mixed.
Giants like HP are facing a sluggish market, falling into the bottom
20 vendors. Conversely, enterprise-focused and specialised vendors
achieved impressive results: Cisco grew its market presence by 159.8%
YTD, while Apple posted a 163.7% YTD expansion, continuing to ride on
the MacBook Neo's success.
Ultimately, the data shows that the Argentinian
infrastructure is changing. While companies are taking longer to
purchase hardware, they focus more on local data management and
ensuring their software meets compliance standards. For regional
players, success will hinge on aligning their products with thriving
segments and placing a strong emphasis on software. While the score
remains undecided, there is still an opportunity for a last-minute
turnaround; it is time for a final push.
