+12% revenue increase signals another strong quarter for desktop monitors in W Europe distribution
London, 5th December 2017 - After a strong third quarter, revenues generated from sales of desktop monitors across Western European distribution continued to grow in early Q4 2017, driven once again by premium consumer-targeted models, according to the latest data published by CONTEXT, the European IT market research company.
Most vendors registered revenue increases, and these reached €374 million overall for the first six weeks of Q4* 2017 – an increase of +12%. For the second quarter in a row, consumer-targeted monitors outperformed those aimed at business: unit sales of the former increased by +9% year-on-year and revenues by +19%, while the latter saw a revenue increase of only +6% alongside flat unit sales.
The fastest growth in early Q4 was in sales of high-end consumer monitors, driven by ASP growth of +9% year-on-year. Revenues from more expensive models, those above €300, have increased by nearly +42% year-on-year.
“Key factors in the outstanding revenue increase for the period include the product-mix shift toward higher-performing items”, said Dominika Koncewicz , Senior Analyst at CONTEXT. “These include displays, such as gaming monitors; the growing number of high-value monitors, such as the recently launched 49" ultra-wide Samsung; and sales to retailers in the weeks leading up to Black Friday.”
