Last night CONTEXT had the pleasure of attending the 2019 GEC Awards, in the privileged position of one of the key collaborative partners for the event. Now in its 6th year, the GEC Awards celebrate the milestones achieved by the IT industry. To receive an award is to be recognised as making an outstanding contribution to the IT industry in the Middle East and Africa region. It is one of the most prestigious events of its type here in the Gulf, and they refer to the awards as the Grammys of the tech industry. This year was a particularly lavish spectacle with a Bollywood theme, resulting in colourful traditional bollywood costumes, spectacular dancing and music.
CONTEXT were invited to the GEC Awards following our recent agreement to collaborate with the media group as our main media partner in the region. Our goals are the same, to enhance the performance of the channel through meaningful data and insight. To this aim CONTEXT officially announced our association with GEC and showed off our unique data with a case study on local enterprise trends. This whet the appetite of those present and gave them an idea of what is to come.
Next up is the GITEX technology week in Dubai from 6 - 10 October, the largest technology show in the Middle East and Africa. The show attracts over 100,000 visitors from more than 140 countries and spans all sectors from industry robotics to smart home to enterprise infrastructure and software. As part of our collaboration with GEC media CONTEXT will feature in video interviews conducted during the event, highlighting key announcements and trends. CONTEXT will also appear as the main feature in the Channel Insights magazine published by GEC for the event. This marks an important step to introduce CONTEXT to the Middle East region and highlight our message of enhancing the channel through data and insight.
As part of CONTEXT’s initiative in the Middle East, we are hosting an exclusive networking lunch for channel partners and clients to discuss ‘where is technology retail going?’ along with special guest Nilesh Khalko, the CEO of Sharaf DG - one of the biggest consumer electronics chains in the UAE. We will be hosting our event in an iconic location in the World Trade Center, easily accessible for Gitex visitors. Please email Tim Davies if you are interested to secure a place at the lunch by invitation.
