10 July 2008 – The Average Selling Price (ASP) of 2.5-inch external Hard Disk Drives (HDD) dropped to Euro 57.18 excl. tax in June, according to data released today by Context, covering distribution sales for France, Germany and the UK (see table 1). Whereas the ASP in this product sector was virtually stable during Q108 around the Euro 71 mark, it registered a significant drop from April onwards, dropping by over 10%in Q208 over the previous quarter.
In the 3.5-inch external HDD sector, the average ASP in Q108 was Euro 83.91 excl. tax, dropping to Euro 75.37 in Q208, always in the UK, France and Germany. It was Euro 73.86 in June, down from Euro 77.51 registered the previous month (see table 2).
