ASP of Wireless Adapters in distribution drops by over 7% in April

12 June 2008 - The Average Selling Price (ASP) of Wireless Adapters declined by over 7% sequentially in April and by 11% compared to January, according to data released today by Context, covering distribution sales for France, Germany and the UK. The ASP registered in April for the three main European economies was Euro 19.7 (excl. tax), for the first time below the 20-Euro mark, compared to Euro 21.29 in March and Euro 22.37 in January (see Table 1).

Among the reasons for the price drop is the lessening of market demand for wireless adapters, as most PC notebooks and desktops are now shipped wireless-ready.

The ASP of WiFi-n wireless adapters declined too in April (Euro 42.86), but only by 2.6% sequentially and by 17% compared to January.
